About the Role

KOAM is looking for a passionate and energetic sports journalist to drive our digital-first sports coverage. In this role, you'll create compelling local sports content that connects with audiences across social media, streaming, digital, and broadcast platforms. You'll be hands-on in gathering highlights, developing unique stories, and producing engaging video for all platform audiences. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller, digital native, and true sports enthusiast who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

KOAM is the local news, weather, and sports leader in the 4-States area (Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri). KOAM is owned by Morgan Murphy Media, family-owned and operated since its founding in 1890. Morgan Murphy Media operates television and radio stations, a print magazine, websites, mobile and streaming apps, and a digital marketing agency, across its 11 locations. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, write, shoot, and edit sports content specifically tailored for digital, streaming, and social media platforms
• Create and deliver sports stories in an engaging, dynamic, and authentic style that resonates with online audiences
• Utilize cutting-edge editing and photography tools to produce visually compelling content optimized for mobile and digital consumption
• Post timely updates, highlights, and interactive content daily across all digital and social channels to maximize audience engagement
• Collaborate on innovative digital sportscasts and specials that break traditional molds and drive audience growth on emerging platforms

Qualifications

• Strong storytelling skills with experience creating content for streaming, web, and social media platforms
• Excellent written, verbal, and on-camera communication abilities
• Deep curiosity about local sports and a commitment to building expertise in the 4-State area
• Highly organized, adaptable, and able to thrive under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
