The Learning House, a therapeutic day school located in Wheeling, IL serving middle and high school students, is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our staff. The Learning House is a year-round program for students who have been determined eligible to receive special education under section 14.702 of the Illinois School Code in the categories of ED/LD/OHI and Autism. Through the use of mastery learning and natural and logical consequences, The Learning House integrates individualized education, vocational support, counseling, and outdoor experiential activities to encourage students to develop a sense of self worth and mutual respect; healthy decision making; responsibility and accountability; a sense of community; and a successful future. Job Description :
The Special Education Teacher is directly responsible for the instructional program of middle and high school students assigned to his/her departmentalized classes in accordance with The Learning House policies and procedures. The Special Education Teacher works collaboratively with administrators, counselors, parents, and other teachers to implement the program and facilitate student growth and change in this year-round program.
