Qualifications:  
  • B.A/B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field of teaching
  • Minnesota State Licensure in teaching in appropriate subject area, Tier 3 or 4 preferred
  • ABS licensed, ASD preferred. 


Role Overview:
As a Special Education Teacher, you will support students with diverse learning needs by creating inclusive and personalized educational plans that help them thrive both academically and emotionally. This role offers the opportunity to work with young learners in a supportive school environment while making a lasting impact on their development. You'll be working with a middle school caseload at a charter school that has been in St. Paul for 25 years. Social workers, a due process case manager, and other sped teachers will be part of your every day team to meet the needs of the students. This school prides itself on a family atmosphere with a team spirit among students and faculty. You'll see very few behaviors externalizing exhibited here. Families are education focused and involved with learning. This school serves mostly a SE Asian population with a large number of the students of Hmong or Karen descent.

Job Details:
  • Schedule: 7:30-4pm five days a week in accordance with school calendar, kids leave at 2:45 leaving time for paperwork, planning
  • Dates: ASAP through end of school year
  • Caseload: high school/transitions
  • In-person only 


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Accommodate, modify and adapt lessons and curriculum as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP Goals
  • Support in the facilitation of IEP meetings as well as development of the IEP
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental levels and interests of their students
  • Set and communicate clear expectations for classroom behavior and school environment by applying positive reinforcement and/or behavior modification techniques as needed. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of student behavior intervention plans
