This position is for a Professional Geologist I in the Bulk Storage Section of the Spill Prevention and Response Unit. Duties of this position will include ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations at regulated petroleum and chemical bulk storage facilities; generate and track work plan and inspection schedules, inspect facilities, reporting, provide follow-up to ensure compliance issues are corrected, prepare and track Notices of Violation (NOV) and legal referrals for enforcement. Manage remediation of petroleum and chemical spills, including long-term remedial projects in the spills program, tank test failures, contamination observed at regulated bulk storage facilities, and assist with implementation of ongoing remediation projects. Provide oversight and direction during field projects to ensure issues are mitigated in accordance with DEC guidelines. Conduct emergency preparedness planning with federal and local agencies, including the development of regional Geographic Response Plans. Provide information and direction as needed during emergency incidents, including outside business hours. Refer to the job posting for further details.
