Summary

The PreK Instructional Coach supports high-quality early childhood education by coaching Pre-K teachers, as the
supervising teacher under HB 2729, and promoting continuous program improvement. This role includes regular classroom
observations, data-informed instructional coaching, professional development facilitation, and collaboration with school
and community partners. The PreK Instructional Coach plays a key role in implementing curriculum, assessments, and TEA
requirements to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.

Duties

· Serve as a supervising teacher in alignment with HB 2729, ensuring program compliance while supporting
classroom instruction, student development, and continuous quality improvement, including professional
development.
· Conduct regular classroom visits to coach teachers and provide constructive feedback through a reflective
coaching cycle to support high-quality teaching practices.
· Deliver timely and actionable feedback to teaching staff based on observations and the reflective cycle, and
regularly collaborate with administration to model exemplary practices.
· Maintain accurate records of coaching visits, including documentation of the reflective coaching cycle.
· Guide teachers in the effective use of assessments, including data interpretation and the integration of results into
instructional planning.
· Model developmentally appropriate instructional practices and facilitate PLC (Professional Learning Community)
meetings. Plan and lead workshops to address areas of improvement identified through structured observation
tools, performance-based assessments, and program evaluation data.
· Develop weekly lesson plans that align with the program calendar, Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, and
research-based curriculum frameworks.
· Foster and maintain strong working relationships with Local Education Agencies (LEAs), academic partners, child
development center directors, teachers, and program staff.
· Support student registration and attendance processes as needed.
· Complete all required programmatic reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
· Contribute to the delivery of high-quality early childhood education, including curriculum implementation and
assessment administration.
· Build educators’ understanding of Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements to ensure compliance and best
practices.
· Promote program quality through classroom observations, needs assessments, and collaborative planning for
system and process improvements.
· Participate in and help plan professional development activities to meet state training requirements and support
mastery of core teaching competencies.
· Contribute to the ongoing advancement of the Pre-K curriculum and instructional practices.
· Support a robust system of classroom coaching and professional development aligned with TEA guidelines.
· Implement and support a classroom quality system using CLASS and other external assessments to inform
coaching and improve instruction, learning environments, and teacher-child interactions.
· Analyze and utilize student outcome data to inform instructional strategies, strengthen partnerships, and align with
the organization’s theory of change and service delivery model.
· Perform additional duties as assigned to support program goals and educational excellence

Requirements

· Must be appropriately certified to teach prekindergarten in Texas and have one of the following additional
qualifications:
o An associate or baccalaureate degree in ECE, Special Education-ECE or a non-ECE degree with 15 units of
ECE-specific coursework
o A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or another early childhood education credential
approved by the agency
o Documented completion of the Texas School Ready Training Program (TSR Comprehensive)
o Certification offered through a training center accredited by Association Montessori Internationale or
through the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education
o At least eight years’ experience of teaching in a nationally accredited child care program or a Texas Rising
Star Program
o Has completed 150 hours of professional development in ECE-specific topics over a consecutive five-year
period; 75 of the 150 hours being in a mentoring/coaching relationship
o An equivalent qualification
· Texas certification for English as a second language supplemental;
· Three years of previous classroom experience teaching preschool children;
· Experience in implementing developmentally appropriate preschool curricula;
· Knowledge of Federal and State requirements for prekindergarten including Texas Education Agency, Child Care
Licensing Minimum Standards, Texas Rising Star, and Texas School Ready;
· Computer proficiency and current technological skills are required;
· Strong time management, organization, decision making, and problem-solving skills;
· Excellent communication and presentation skills;
· Exhibits ability to be flexible, resilient, and adaptable to changing priorities;
· Strong interpersonal skills;
· Ability to track and utilize data to improve outcomes;
· Reliable, insured vehicle for work-related transportation.
· Must successfully pass a pre-employment and/or periodic physical exam, TB skin test, and a comprehensive
background check and renewals as required.
