Instructional Coach – Resiliency

General Job Description

The Resiliency Coach is an experienced professional who provides wellness learning for Breakthrough Miami Teaching Fellows and Scholars throughout the summer. The Resiliency Coach manages the Scholar Success Plans and advisory programming, working with all Teaching Fellows at the site to promote Scholar growth, academic success, and overall well-being. This role includes leading meetings, observing Teaching Fellows’ advisory sessions at least once a week, evaluating advisory plans and individual Scholar check-ins, and meeting individually with Teaching Fellows to provide constant feedback and support. The Resiliency Coach also serves as the site counselor, working directly with Scholars to support their development. In collaboration with the Lead Resiliency Coach and Site Directors, the Resiliency Coach is accountable for the fidelity, rigor, and consistency of the Resiliency programming and is responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their advising experiences while ensuring Scholars receive high-quality support.

Specific Resiliency Coach Duties

Pre-summer:

  • Complete training sessions (Saturday, May 9 & Saturday, May 16, 2026)
  • Consult with BTM staff regarding 5th-9th grade Resiliency/Success Plan content
  • Meet with site staff to plan orientation workshops

Teaching Fellow Orientation:

  • Help facilitate workshops on topics such as CASEL Competencies, Mindfulness/Mindful Kindness, academic planning, and how to conduct individual check-ins
  • Participate fully in orientation workshops
  • Work with Teaching Fellows to design six-week advisory plan and daily lesson plans

Six-Week Summer Program:

  • Participate in weekly zoom meetings with Lead Resiliency Coach
  • Guide Teaching Fellows through developing lesson plans, creating assessments and locating appropriate teaching resources
  • Work with Scholars and check in with Teaching Fellows
  • Adapt lesson plans created by lead Resiliency Coach for your site
  • Observe each Teaching Fellow at least once weekly, followed by a debriefing session in which Teaching Fellows receive concrete feedback on their advisory session
  • Communicate at the mutually agreed upon cadence with Site Director to discuss Teaching Fellow and Scholar progress
  • Plan and lead meetings to provide professional development for Teaching Fellows relating to Resiliency curriculum and Scholar growth
  • Act as site counselor
  • Lead/assist changemaker and Teaching Fellow appreciation week
  • Engage fully in the BTM community; sharing your passion for teaching, learning, and leading

Evaluation Week:

  • Read and edit advisory portion of Scholar evaluations submitted by Teaching Fellows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Outstanding track record as a professional including experience with Wellness/Mindfulness for a minimum of two years
  • Superior presentation, writing and organizational skills
  • High degree of flexibility; ability to multitask between projects
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to hold others to high standards, while also offering support and maintaining positive relationships
  • Ability to deliver positive, constructive, and honest feedback; both written and verbal
  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation
  • Outstanding knowledge of subject matter and broad knowledge of available resources
  • Comfort and confidence in working with children and adults

Schedule and Compensation

Dates and Times:

Prior to Summer Program: A few hours a week in May, as needed

Required Staff Training: May 10 and 17, 2026, 9am-3pm

Start Date: June 6, 2026

Teaching Fellow Orientation: June 6-June 12, 2026, 8am-5pm

Summer Program: June 15-July 24, 2026, 8am-3pm (may start earlier depending on site schedule)

Evaluation Week: July 27-July 31, 2026, As needed

Compensation – $4,500 stipend (paid over three pay periods)
