 USST Holdings is the parent company overseeing the financial and accounting operations of two sister companies: US Submergent Technologies, a specialized provider of submergent equipment and services, and SediVision Engineering Services, offering innovative engineering solutions and services. Our Sarasota Corporate Office serves as the financial hub, supporting both companies with accurate accounting, reporting, and financial strategy.

Position Summary:

USST Holdings is seeking an experienced Controller to join our dynamic corporate finance and accounting team in Sarasota, FL. This full-time, on-site role will support both operational and strategic financial initiatives across our family of sister companies.

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the corporate accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations. This individual will work directly with the CFO and CEO, providing financial insights, managing cash flow projections, job costing, and supporting executive leadership with strategic decision-making projects that help expand our operations and increase revenue. The Controller will play a key role in providing insights that support company growth and operational success.

 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • ·Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for USST Holdings and its sister companies.
  • Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting processes.
  • Oversee job costing and project-based accounting to ensure accuracy in cost allocations and profitability analysis.
  • Monitor internal controls, ensure GAAP compliance, and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely financial insights and recommendations to support company strategy and decision-making.
  • Assist the CFO in preparing financial models, cash flow projections, and board/executive-level reports.
  • Support audits, tax filings, and external financial reporting requirements.
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff as the department grows.
  • Partner with leadership across departments to ensure financial alignment with operational goals.

  Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum of at least 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 of those years in a Controller or a higher senior accounting level role.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, cost accounting, and cash flow management.
  • Experience working in a service-based or engineering/construction-related industry is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems, specifically using QuickBooks Accounting Software
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other related computer programs.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate with executive leadership.
  • Must be willing and able to pass our pre-employment checks, to include a comprehensive criminal background check, MVR search, education checks, reference checks, a financial history and credit check, and a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be local to the Sarasota, FL area and/or other nearby, surrounding areas -OR- be willing to relocate immediately if offered the position (please note, this is not a remote or hybrid position; must be willing and able to work in person in a corporate office setting).

  Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Full-time, exempt/salaried position based out of the USST Holdings Corporate Office Suites & SediVision Headquarters in Sarasota, FL.
  • Standard business hours, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM with occasional flexibility as needed or approved by the CFO.
  • Occasional local and/or regional travel throughout Florida may be required to visit our subsidiary offices and nearby vendors as needed. However, travel is expected to be minimal for this position.
