CADD/GIS DRAFTER (PART-TIME)

VETERAN-FRIENDLY OPPORTUNITY:

Established North Bay land surveying and title consulting firm (50+ years serving Sonoma County) seeking experienced CADD drafter with GIS capabilities. Part-time position ideal for veterans transitioning to civilian careers, returning students, or those seeking flexible work arrangements.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We perform ALTA surveys, boundary surveys, lot line adjustments, and topographic surveys throughout Sonoma County's diverse landscape - from historic ranches and world-class wineries to suburban developments. This position offers the opportunity to gain specialized experience in the unique challenges of North Bay surveying.

This position is ideal for self-directed professionals who can hit the ground running with Civil 3D and GIS, while receiving guidance on our firm's specific processes and local requirements. Part-time schedule (20-30 hours/week) provides flexibility for veterans pursuing education, managing family commitments, or building additional career opportunities.

Office-based in Santa Rosa with remote work possible after successful onboarding period. No fieldwork required.

MILITARY EXPERIENCE THAT TRANSLATES WELL:

Veterans with military experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

• Geospatial intelligence, mapping, or surveying.
• GPS/GNSS data collection and processing.
• Topographic analysis or terrain mapping.
• Engineering support with CAD/GIS systems.
• Any technical role involving precision mapping or spatial data.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Technical Capabilities:

• 3+ years professional experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Demonstrated ability creating topographic surveys, site plans, and grading plans.
• Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap for spatial data management.
• Experience processing GPS/GNSS data and converting between CAD and GIS formats.
• Ability to interpret surveying data, legal descriptions, and engineering plans.

Core Competencies:

• Self-directed with proven ability to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective communication with team members and project managers.
• Database management skills (Microsoft Access preferred).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Produce topographic surveys and site plans using Civil 3D.
• Create and update maps using GIS software.
• Manage spatial databases and attribute data.
• Convert data between CAD and GIS platforms.
• Coordinate with Professional Land Surveyors on deliverables.
• Ensure accuracy and quality control of all drawings and maps.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Technical training, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying, GIS, or related field, OR equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Portfolio of Civil 3D and GIS work required with application.
• Available in person 20-30 hours per week.

POSITION DETAILS:

• Part-time: 20-30 hours per week (flexible for education/family schedules).
• Compensation: $30-40/hour (depending on experience).
